The Purpose of Life in Chan, Public Talk

The Purpose of Life in Chan
In February, seventeen years ago, Master Sheng Yen, one of the most eminent contemporary Buddhist teachers whose teachings pulsate through our community, passed away. We remember him with gratitude…
“The Chan view of life differs from worldly wisdom. The Chan stance is that the purpose of life is enlightenment, the letting go of self. We must pass through three stages to arrive at the dissolution of self. First, we affirm ourselves, then we mature, and finally, our self dissolves. This is called a realistic view of human life because it is based on ultimate reality.”
This excerpt from Master Sheng Yen’s book “Deep Wisdom” is a proper introduction to the public lecture by his Dharma heir, teacher Žarko Andričević as he explores the theme – The Purpose of Life in Chan.
Public talk is open to all and is a great opportunity to learn more about the work of our Center and how to join our activities.
Simultaneous English translation is provided.
